Furnace

Safety features are covered by the different sensors at the furnace itself. These are placed near the burners, heat exchanger, and igniter. There will be a chance that the heat will not circulate properly and circle back to the heat exchanger. This will cause it to get hotter, which is dangerous.

If it gets to this level, the sensor should know, and it will signal to stop the system. If the system is on and the burner is not spewing out flames, the sensor will also send the signal to shut off to stop the leaking of carbon monoxide.

There should also be a carbon monoxide sensor in your thermostat for you to know if this is not exhausted out of the house properly.

Boiler

A boiler heater uses water to transfer heat around the house. With this said, some plumbing work will need to be done in your house.

This is a heating system where you have your water in the reservoir heater up and circulated through pipes. This can also provide heated water for bathing, so there’s an extra purpose to it. Radiators will have to be installed in the rooms that you want to heat up. These will be connected to the pipe loop. The hot water that flows by will heat the radiators up, which will then be the heat source for the rooms. Another heat exchanger that you can use is the baseboard. It is lighter and cheaper, but it cannot hold residual heat longer than a radiator.

Which One Is for You?

The furnace system, as air has more spread out molecules, can heat up the house faster. Creating vents is also an easier construction project. Whereas the boiler type gives you the extra capability to heat up your water and you don’t have to worry about carbon monoxide leaks. The radiators also hold heat longer even after the system is shut down.
